The Sanfira Sculpt is a handheld kneading massager for the body. A strong rotary motor drives a wide, plush head over the skin, so the area is left warm, pink and looking visibly smoother straight after a session. It is the sort of thing you use for ten minutes in front of the telly, three or four times a week — not a twelve-week programme.

What it is

• Deep rotary kneading — an eccentric-shaft motor, not vibration, so the massage reaches past the surface of the skin.
• Three washable pads — white, apricot and blue terry covers that pull off and rinse by hand in seconds.
• Dial-controlled speed — start at the lowest mark and build up as you get used to it.
• Mains powered — a standard UK three-pin plug. Nothing to charge, and full power for the whole session.
• Built for the body — thighs, hips and glutes, stomach and waist, upper arms, shoulders and calves. Not for the face.

How to use it

1. Stretch one of the terry covers over the head.
2. Plug it in and turn the dial to its lowest setting.
3. Apply body oil or cream so the pad glides — never use it on dry skin.
4. Work one area at a time in slow circles, moving upward and outward, for about ten minutes.
5. Three or four sessions a week is the routine most people settle into.
6. Rinse the cover under the tap afterwards and wipe the device with a dry cloth.

Do not use over varicose veins, on broken, irritated or sunburnt skin, or directly over the spine, kidneys or any bone. Never submerge the device in water. Keep it moving, do not press hard, and stop if anything is painful. If you are unsure whether it is suitable for you, speak to your GP first.
